22″w x 30″h, Rising Stonehedge 100% cotton paper, colored pencils
Inspired by the beaches of the Pacific Northwest, I applied layer upon layer of color creating vanishing and contrasting boundaries between parallel lines. One line by itself appears static. All the lines combine to create a dynamic visual illusion of tidal movement–and universal time.
The detail image illustrates the deep and various color values. The pencil marks give a tactile sensation similar to walking on beach sand.
